Many Democrats are still flustered after the election a little over a year ago. Some, on the other hand, know at least partially why they lost the election — and what bogged the party down in previous years.
ABC News published a piece about the splendors, at least in their eyes, of former Maryland Democrat governor, Martin O’Malley. However, during his interview with ABC‘s White House correspondent, O’Malley admitted something shocking that ABC attempted to brush over in their piece. O’Malley believes that the weakening of the Democrats stems from Former President Obama, the Democratic National Committee, and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
“What is happening now is the party is regenerating itself, almost like after a bad forest fire,” O’Malley said of the Democrats.
The former Maryland governor came to the conclusion that Obama wasted the energy he had built up around his candidacy. Indeed, the Democrats were passionate about Obama’s victory, but it was all for nothing. The Left were ultimately unable to carry that momentum out of the election and put it to use productively.
O’Malley said that he believes the fire started back in 2008 when Obama was first elected. There, the Democrat Party used all of their energy making it into office, but began losing that energy shortly thereafter, unable to make any appreciable changes.
“Rather than infusing that energy into the veins of the Democratic Party and making the Democratic Party new and more energetic, instead, the president and his people decided to set up a separate organization in Organizing for America.”
Had Organizing for America not been a priority of the former president, his electoral momentum may have been put to better use.
Proof of what O’Malley is claiming is evident. Americans watched the nation’s immigration policies spiral out of control. All the while, Obama promised hope and change. Instead of channeling the energy he’d built up during his campaign for the presidency and using it for something beneficial to the country, Former President Barack Obama let it go to waste.
President Trump’s election caused many Democrats to face harsh realizations. They were confused, scared, and a little angry — and still are. They were duped, and instead of seeing it that way, many are still clinging to the promise of Obama’s hope and change.
The Left seems to be in denial, and it’s only harming their already-dwindling and weakening political position.
